Assuming that the new mill can be scaled to the existing

A 9ft x 9ft ball mill is being used to grind 55 TPH of slag for useas a filler material. The size analysis of the feed material is 80%passing 8 Tyler mesh, and the product size (product A) is 80%passing 65 mesh. The ball mill is powered by a 450 HP motor, andthe 450 HP is fully utilized in grinding the feed to the productsize.

A new market has been developed, which requires a product size of80% passing 150 mesh (product B).

a) Using the Bond Approach, calculate the TPH of Product B that canbe produced with the existing mill.

b) The company plans on producing both Product A and Product Bsimultaneously (to satisfy two seperate markets) at the rate of 55TPH each. The existing mill will be used to produce Product A and anew mill will be installed to produce Product B.

Assuming that the new mill can be scaled to the existing 9ft x 9ftmill and that the length of the new mill is to be equal to itsdiameter, calculate the dimensions of the new mill. Round offfractional mill dimensions exceeding .2ft to the next higher value(e.g. 9.3ft= 10ft).
