A turbojet (shown in Figure 6.44) uses a steady stream of air to accelerate an airplane. It operates by taking in air via a compressor and accelerating it by means of a combustion and compression process. The air is assumed stationary in the inertial frame and the mass flow rate m? is largely independent of the speed of the plane. Assuming that the jet accelerates the air to a speed vrel relative to the jet's center of mass G, draw a control volume and find an expression for the thrust produced by the engine.
