ASSIGNMENT: RHETORICAL ANALYSIS
For this assignment, you are to pick a visual or digital text related to the field you chose for the Academic Summary, and conduct a rhetorical analysis of the text. Some examples of appropriate texts include websites, films, videos and pictures. You will pick your own text to analyze, and if you have any questions about your source, feel free to ask.
It is strongly recommended you read the "Breaking Down an Image" handout in the Files section on Canvas before you begin your analysis. It provides springboards for your thinking and analysis, as well as examples.
Other points to consider as you work on this assignment:
-CONTEXT-what background information about your field/text will you need to provide to your reader?
-THESIS-this should state your subject and what elements you will be analyzing.
-SUPPORT-be sure any statements you make about your text are supported with solid evidence.
-TONE-this is a formal, academic paper so no use of the pronoun "I."
-FORMAT-12 point font, standard margins, typed and double-spaced
You will need to include your visual text with your paper. If you are using a picture, please put it somewhere in the paper. If you are using a video clip, please provide a link.
