Benefits of Play Report
Assignment Objective: Students will investigate the role of play in the early childhood years and demonstrate that play is a powerful and effective teaching strategy to support children's cognitive, language, creative, physical, and social/emotional development.
Student Learning Outcome: Students compare and contrast play-based curriculum that supports children's cognitive, language, creative, physical and social/emotional development.
Your report should include the following:
o Interesting title
o Engaging introduction with a thesis that clearly identifies the purpose of your report
o Persuasive argument about the important role of play in the early childhood years and convincing and credible evidence on the multiple benefits of play to support children's cognitive, language,creative,physical, and socio/emotional development
o Few examples to support your argument
o A conclusion statement that leaves the reader with a final thought
o Works cited page
Essay Requirements:
o Essay must be typed, 12 size font, double spaced, one inch margins, and 2 full pages in length. Essays shorter or longer than two full pages will not earn a passing grade.
o College-level spelling, grammar, and careful proof-reading
o A clear thesis statement and well developed paragraphs, including introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion
o At least 2 credible sources of information. Make sure to cite your sources properly using APA format.
o A work cited page
