Task details - 'What should happen to a person's digital records when they can no longer control them?'
Read the background scenarios, A and B as a starting point. Then this essay should include the following issues in the discussion (not as a question/answer format, but as an embedded discussion in the essay):
- What is privacy? What is digital privacy? Describe digital privacy in Australia.
- What are the issues of concern raised around digital materials?
- What are the options to consider to ensure digital privacy?
- What is digital legacy?
- What are the measures to ensure users both alive and deceased are protected on platforms like Facebook, Google and iCloud.
- Describe and provide an example of legislation in another country that would require social networks to grant next of kin access to the accounts of deceased family members, and contrast to the Australian situation.
- What can be done to ensure ownership of digital property? Can it be passed on as digital estate?
