Assessment
You can observe it visually at birth. The anterior abdominal wall is absent and the posterior bladder lining which is bright red in colour is exposed. Urine seeps into the posterior bladder wall from abnormal ureteral outlets.
There may be ulceration of bladder mucosa and excoriation of surrounding skin. Urogram is done to determine the condition of ureters and kidneys.
