Assessment task - Literature Review

Conduct extensive research based on the topic identified in their literature review proposal (Assessment Task 2) and prepare a report on the state of knowledge and scholarly ideas on their topic. This should include a discussion of the strengths and weaknesses of the existing literature, biases, gaps, general trends and dissenting opinions. The review is not a series of summaries about the sources studied, nor even an analysis of individual sources strung together. Students should consult and reference a minimum of 6 scholarly sources. More information about writing a literature review will be provided in tutorials. Students are expected to respond to their tutor's feedback on their Literature Review proposal and refine their topic accordingly.

The topic will be -

The topic of my literary review will be about Antoni Gaudi's Church Sagrada Familia. The church in Barcelona is perhaps the most unusual basilica, and is full of contradictions. The architect is one of Catalonia's most loved, Antoni Gaudi's and everyone in Barcelona agrees that the church stands for something - but what it is, is contradicted. With nowadays crises and Catalonia wanting to separate from Spain, La Sagrada is a contemporary topic. With the recent issues about Catalonia trying to separate from Spain. eGaudi first received a commission to build the church to celebrate Catalonian pride and to celebrate the Catholic church. Gaudi's own life is a mystery as well and he was said to have ignored his Catholic faith until he was 42. He was a leading front figure for the Catalan movement and later in his life dedicated himself completely to the Sagrada Familia.

The church can be debated as a symbol for national identity. Sagrada Familia is considered as one of the symbols of the city and is considered like an 'open book' that tells the story of everyday history of faith. The controversy church is huge and construction is planned to be done before 2026, taking in mind its construction began in 1882. The dispute that has risen of the continuing of the construction is based on that Gaudi's detailed plans were burned in the Spanish Civil War, and that the current work is based on speculation and is destroying the integrity of Gaudi's artistic treasure. Another argument for not completing the church has been that is solely funded with public donations, raising questions as when a church becomes a monument and what right does the public have in the project. Other people argue that Gaudi wanted his church to be functional and finished even though it will not be like his original design. Many historical figures have made remarks of the complex basilica and made remarks like "it is an artificially inflated space lacking in soul". I want to research what the perception of the Sagrada is in Barcelona and how it has effected the Catalan community. Whether it is just Catalan people who find pride and revere it.

Know sources for every sentence there are facts and also an annoted bibliography. Is this possible and how long would it take?
