Assess the trade flows between canada

Assignment:

Canada has a small population base and, as a result, trade plays a vital role in the economic growth of the country. While the United States is our dominant trading partner, Canada today has trading relationships with most countries of the world. This assignment is intended to review and assess the trade flows between Canada and many individual countries of the world.

Every student in the class will select a different country from the attached list and then proceed to answer the following questions:

• Provide a list of the top ten exports from Canada to the country you have selected and dollar values for the most recent year available.

• Has the total value of exports to that country from Canada increased or decreased in the past five years?

• Provide a list of the top ten imports to Canada from the country you selected along with dollar values for the most recent year available.

• Has the total value of imports from that country increased or decreased in the past five years?

• What was the trade balance in each of the past five years for the country you have chosen relative to Canada?

• Does Canada have a free trade relationship with the country that you have selected? If so, what is the name of the agreement and how long has it been in place.

• What is the currency being utilized by the country selected?

• What is the current exchange rate (how many units of foreign currency will a Canadian dollar buy)?

• If the Canadian dollar were to devalue significantly, how would trade with your study area possibly be affected?
