In order to do so, please address the following questions: What are the primary factors that have contributed to violence in this region and what role has religion played in fostering ongoing political conflict? What is the difference between religion and religious fundamentalism? Provide examples to help demonstrate the difference. Is religious difference, in itself, a direct cause of political violence, or is religion used primarily to justify campaigns of political violence that are motivated by other interests (e.g. economic resources, national liberation, etc.)? Why might this distinction be important when attempting to understand contemporary conflict?

In order to do so, please address the following questions: Is it possible to develop an objective, universally-acceptable definition of "terrorism?" Why or why not? How would Ganor and Nacos answer the previous question? Do you agree or disagree with their arguments? Why?
Research terrorist incidences in a country of your choice (a country that we have not covered in this course). Please address the following questions: What is their history of terrorism? What is their history of counterterrorism? What are the most significant challenges in combatting terrorism?
