Assignment Task: Labeling theorists argue that punishment associated with a criminal act is but one aspect of the formal criminal justice processing. In addition to formal sanctions, labeling theorists suggest that other consequences of the processing, more social in nature, have potentially greater consequences for the labeled offender. What might these other social consequences be? How would we address them with the criminal justice system, or society as a whole?
