As you know, the Civil War in the United States pitted the northern states against the southern states. However, there were a lot of social and political differences that led to the southern states declaring their secession from the union.
Starting from the writing and ratification of the constitution, choose five examples of social and political turning points in the late 18th and 19th century that deepened the divide between what we call "north" and "south" and led directly to civil war.
The turning points you choose must be clearly defined, and their larger connection to the eventual Civil War must be made clear using examples and evidence supporting your argument/choices.
