As the lecture states the social and environmental

1.  As the lecture states: "The social and environmental challenges faced by Britain, the United States, and many European countries in the 19th Century are now being felt in industrializing states such as China and India."  What are some examples of this?  Do you think those countries will handle it better than we did?  What can/should they learn from our mistakes?  What did we do well?

One question that always comes up is whether all this new technology that has arrived at our houses have really benefited women in terms of drastically changing what they do at home from what women used to do say, 100 years ago. Yes, now women go to work, but in general, they still get stuck with most of the chores at home.  If we looked at the typical household 100 years ago where women were primarily at home tending to children, cooking, cleaning, buying groceries, ironing, etc., could we say that 100 years of technological development have done away with those burdens at home? Has technology freed women in general from those chores?
