Artificial Parthenogenesis
In various cases, the eggs that normally develop only after fertilisation can be experimentally induced to develop parthenogenetically by specific treatments. This is artificial parthenogenesis. For instance, sea urchin eggs develop parthenogenetically if they are subjected to particular temperatures, ultraviolet light, ether, electric shocks, alcohol, lactic acid, mechanical stimuli like pricks etc.
