I was going to this assignment on my own but I can not pull up the Active Listening Skills test on my computer. If you can do this test please reply to this discussion but If you can not, please do not send me a bid.
First you are required to take the online listening quiz and report your score and feedback. Then, you should explain whether or not the measure was accurate and why. The "why" question is the important one, as you will provide your own reasoning of how your score accurately or inaccurately reflects how you see yourself as a listener.
Second, you are asked to reflect on how your listening score and abilities are effect your professional relationships. Have you had problems listening to people at work? Have you found yourself tuning out when coworkers are speaking, or frequently interrupting others?
Are you the person people tend to approach with problems or concerns because you are known for hearing them out? Does your job require that you listen carefully to others as part of your routine duties, and if so, how does a "good" day or "bad" day at work influence your ability to do so effectively? These are only a few examples of how your listening capabilities can impact your interactions in the workplace.
Third, you must explain some specific ways you can improve your listening, based on advice from the text. How could these listening strategies improve your professional relationships and maybe even your overall career possibilities? What listening strategies from the textbook or another reliable source do you feel will best help you meet your listening goals and why?
If you scored very high, talk about how you already employ some, or all, of the strategies from the text. If your score was lower, talk about an area or areas in which you would like to improve. Provide cited support to demonstrate you understanding of the readings (Bevan & Sole, 2014). Perhaps if you don't have no issues with listening you can discuss someone in your life (either personally or professionally). who does and illustrate how he or she could benefit from the advice.
