Scenario:
I was on vacation in Germany. Now the tenant - IP address owner - received a letter (his name as the recipient) from Waldorf Frommer that there was an illegal file uploading of a Warner Bros. movie during my stay. I didn't upload any illegal file ever as far as I recalled. But now I have no evidence to prove my innocence; I was alone in the house at the time. The tenant mentioned that there were several people knowing his wifi password ***** me...I'm not German and I'm not living in Germany also. Are German laws effective on me? How should I go around with this?
Does he have to point out a person to take responsibility or does he just have to prove that he was not in town at the time?
In the worst scenrio that we have to pay, but as studenta we don't have money to afford the fine, can we submit a statement to prove so?
