Apply matlab toolbox on machine learning

Assignment Task: Matlab for machine learning in condition monitoring applications

Aim: Apply Matlab toolbox on machine learning for condition monitoring of electrical or mechanical apparatus.

Dolby fed induction machine modelling and control for wind energy generation application.

Your report must have the following format. Note that by following this format you are not guaranteed a good mark. It is the content under each heading that will determine the mark you receive.

1. Title

On a separate page immediately after the cover of the report (maximum length 15 words). Give your full name, course and submission date below the title.

2. Abstract

This should be on a separate page, immediately following the title page. The abstract should be a short summary (up to 200 words) of the aims/objectives of your work and the progress you have made so far. It should be written last, after your report is finished. It can be distilled from the introduction and conclusions of your report. Abstracts play a key role in engineering and scientific reporting. They tell the reader what your work is about and what has been achieved.

3. Introduction

This 'sets the scene' for your report and gives the reader a brief background to the gen- eral area of your project based on the relevant background reading you will have done in textbooks, journals, etc. Give only a few (up to 15) key references (also available since your prog. report). Describe what you are doing and why. Length should be no more than 1.5-2 sides.

4. Aim

Give the main aim of your project. This is what you hope to achieve by the end of the project. Try to make this as specific as possible so that you and others can assess how successful you have been at the end of the project. Your aim should also be realistic and achievable.

5. Objectives

These are subsidiary aims whose completion will enable the main aim to be met. There can be several of these. Again, try to make them specific and measurable wherever possible.

6. Deliverables

List the main project deliverables. These are the main outputs of the project e.g. the interim and final reports, any hardware you will construct, software, user manuals etc.

7. The Technical Approach Proposed and Used

This is the 'how you are doing it' part of the report. You need to describe the technical approach you have decided to follow in order to reach the project aims. Was the approach technically feasible? Identify any technical problems which you have had to solve and the outcome.

8. Technical Progress and results to date

Describe the technical work you have carried out to date (e.g. different stages of writing and execution of software, mechanical build, circuit designs, breadboarding/constructing hardware, testing, data collection, etc.). Use diagrams and present any data carefully in tables and graphs as appropriate. Please remember with any code presented, all code should be explained.

9. Conclusions

Evaluate and summarize the main points covered in your report including the progress you have made and the key problems still to be solved to reach the project aims by the final report submission. The use of bullet points is a very effective way of listing the conclusions and is recommended. This section should be no more than one side in length.
