Assignment task: Practical Application of the American Forward System of Riding
The elementary level of control of this system has three primary uses.
1. Training green horses - accustomed to tack and the weight of the rider but not too much more.
2. Teaching beginner riders - Know safety and the nature of the horse ready for mounted instruction.
3. Warming up more advanced horses and riders
Select either the training of green horses or teaching beginner riders and provide a lengthy, highly detailed description of a possible system to follow. Use the vocabulary of the forward system to explain what you are teaching and why. Discuss the aids you would use and the techniques for applying them. For the rider use the 7 physical qualities and the 4 fundamentals to discuss how you would teach position.
