Antibacterial activity 

Rifaximin reaches high concentrations in the intestinal tract and is active in vitro against a broad range of enteropathogens, including ETEC, EAEC, Shigella spp. and Salmonella spp.

It is much less active against Campylobacter jejuni and Yersinia ente- rocolitica.
