Another reason why women are more susceptible to poverty is because they generate more expenses than that of a man. With women making less than a man does it makes it harder for women to afford life's basic necessities. Women are responsible for bringing children into this world and as many know bearing children isn't a cheap endeavor. After given birth some women are forced to go back to work before they are medically ready because they can not afford to stay out of work for to long. Also their job doesn't allow them the necessary time off that they need to properly heal and bond with their child. This further puts single female household at a disadvantage as they work and have to be financially responsible for not only themselves but that of their family as well. Today women are given more opportunities than they had back in the day but women are still not considered equal to men. Hopefully the world will take a note from Iceland and make equal pay a law.
