Analyzing a case study and writing a case study analysis


For the Project III, you pick up a global company and write a report on that company. Your report must be based on the template in the middle of your book, "Introduction: Analyzing a Case Study and Writing a Case Study Analysis." This instruction is the base for analyzing the company, but you must apply to your report materials from the three books that we finished reading in this course. You will email your real company project (Project III) to me. Late delivery will not be accepted. No slides are necessary, just the writing a report. You write 15 pages report on the company. More description on Project III is in the syllabus of the course.

Project: Research and Company Report

The research and company report will be an exercise in the student's ability to consume, synthesize, and apply what is learned in the class, the reading assignments and the research materials. You will choose a global company in an industry and write a report on that company. They must utilize primary sources on the company in writing their reports and follow scholarly methods in conducting research, organizing the report and citing references. The company must be approved by the instructor before student's initiate working on and writing their reports. The time for submitting a short abstract on the company is marked in your syllabus. The reports are 15 pages in length. Students must concentrate on critical questions and information that accurately depict how the selected company performs in the marketplace and establishes its competitive advantage.

Students will read Introduction:

Analyzing a Case Study and Writing a Case Study Analysis from their text, Strategic Management, in order to understand how to write a report on a company. They also take into consideration the following questions in their company report:

- The organizational structure of the company and its governance. Ethics and Corporate Social Responsibility
- The strategic leadership of the company
- The competitive advantage of the company and how the company takes advantage of its competitive advantage in the marketplace
- The financial viability and growth of the company
- How the company formulate and implement strategy at the functional, business and global level
- How the company's strategic planning relates to domestic and global expansion and growth
- How the company use technology to perform and advance competitive advantage?
- How the company sees its own environment in its own business and industry
- How the company's corporate level strategy relates to horizontal and vertical integration
- How Michael Porter's model applies to the company
- How Peter Senge's Learning Organization Model applies to the company
- What SWOT analysis can tell us about the company
- How the company market its product and compete in the market place
- How the company develops competitive advantage and compete effectively across industries and countries
