Assignment: Personal Philosophy of Nursing
In a Microsoft Word document of 5 to 6 pages formatted, describe your personal approach to professional nursing practice. Be sure to address each one of the following criteria:
1) Which philosophy/conceptual framework/theory/middle-range theory describes nursing in the way you think about it?
a. Discuss how you could utilize the philosophy/conceptual framework/theory/middle-range theory to organize your thoughts for critical thinking and decision making in nursing practice.
2) Formulate and discuss your personal definition of nursing, person, health, and environment.
3) Discuss a minimum of two beliefs and/or values about nursing that guide your own practice.
4) Analyze your communication style using one of the tools presented in the course.
a. Discuss the strengths and weaknesses associated with your style of communication.
b. Impact of your communication style on your ability to collaborate as part of an interdisciplinary team.
The project for this week may raise some questions about the assignment. Below are the four criteria that need to be addressed in your paper.
The last criterion is probably causing the most questions. There is some information missing from the textbook. So, you have several options - you can use the information in Box 12-5 to assess your communication. The other option is to use the internet and select a site that describes communication styles, you will find there are several ways communication styles are identified. After you select a method, assess you communication style and address the rest of the criteria.

Format your assignment according to the following formatting requirements:
(1) The answer should be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides.
(2) The response also includes a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the student's name, the course title, and the date. The cover page is not included in the required page length.
(3) Also include a reference page. The Citations and references should follow APA format. The reference page is not included in the required page length.
