Now that you have a draft of your resume and cover letter, analyze them through the lens of strengths/weaknesses, both of yourself as an applicant and of the actual texts (which combine, as I hope you shall see).
If you were analyzing these documents to select potential applicants to call for an interview, what would stand out as your greatest strengths? How about your weaknesses? In essence, give yourself an honest assessment—how do you stack up against the expected competition?
Afterwards, think about how your résumé and cover letter highlight your strengths as well as downplay and/or hide your weaknesses. During revision, what could you do to improve upon this? If you’re not entirely sure, what questions will you have for your workshop group?
