Reflect - Analyze "Gavilan Hills" by Nicole Hubble which is attached. Look at the five characteristic features of narratives below that are also located on page 192 of Everyone's an Author textbook with more details about the features below: Then annotate the essay to point out these features. Look at your annotations and the parts of the text they refer to and evaluate how well the author illustrates the characteristic features. For example, is the setting clearly described? How vivid are the details?
Annotate means to jot down, highlight, or underline key/important information in a text.
Annotated Bibliography gives an overview of a published work about a topic. It includes complete publication information for source and a summary or an abstract. The features include: a brief Summary or Description of the work. Evaluation is comments and/or opinions about source. Additonally, some indication of how the information can be used.
Characteristic Features -
1. A clearly identified event. What happened? Who was involved?
2. A clearly described setting. When and where did it happen?
3. Vivid, descriptive details. What makes the story come alive?
4. A consistent point of view: Who's telling the story?
5. A clear point: Why does the story matter?
