1. Begin the analysis by examining the form: analyze at least 2 of the elements of design and 1 principle of design. provide a strong, clear formal analysis of the artwork and clearly analyze how the artist uses the elements and principles of design to create the artwork.
2. Next, analyze the content and function by placing the artwork into its context.
3. Form: an explanation of visual structure OR the way visual elements and principles function in a composition.
4. Function: how does the artwork function in society? What is its original purpose?
5. Content: what is the subject matter? What are the ideas attached to the visual object? Analyze any symbolism.
6. Context: discuss the significant facts and circumstances surrounding the creation of the visual object as it relates to the function and content.
