Assignment Task: Brainwashing in The Circle

Analyze the brainwashing techniques used by characters including Dan, Josiah, Denise, Bailey, Annie and others to show how they relate to the essays "6 Brainwashing Techniques They Are Using On You Right Now" and "Corporate Brainwashing". Analyze at least four incidents of brainwashing and explain the techniques used.
In addition to the techniques illustrated in the essays you will have to show what the logical fallacies of the arguments are. How is the logic in each of the character's assertions flawed? Is caring really sharing? You can examine Mercer's arguments about the Circle and see if you can show how his analysis of the corporation is correct.
Thesis: Is there brainwashing going on in The Circle? Does it work? Why?

Topic sentences. Use assertions from articles we read to frame your arguments. Use a point from one of the articles (cite correctly). You can also use the experience, thoughts and beliefs of characters in The Circle, specifically Mercer.
Support your claims with evidence from The Circle. You must analyze specific incidences of brainwashing by analyzing specific words, body language and tones of voice or other expressions. Make sure you show how these things illustrate brainwashing by showing your analysis of the effect on the brainwashee.
Concluding Thoughts:
Why do you think that the people in The Circle focus on Mae for their brainwashing techniques? Why is she vulnerable? What makes her reject her doubts, in your opinion?
