Choose a topic (find attached chosen article) that interests you and find an author who makes an argument that you want to discuss. Analyze the author's use of language, the way they frame the issue, and the strategies they use to persuade their audience. Use some of the critical discourse analysis tools described by Thomas Huckin; though you do not need to name him, you should identify and explain the concepts that you are using. Your essay should demonstrate your close analysis of the text. You may want to include other source information as well. You could analyze a different type of text, such as a commercial, a speech, or something.
