Discussion Five included videos about the Cuban Missile Crisis produced by German documentarian Spartacus Olson. One of this video series' successes is presenting the Russian involvement in the missile crisis with more emphasis on Russian personalities than has usually happened in analysis of this crisis. The analysis of the risk of nuclear war in the missile crisis is more reasonably presented, as well. Analyze how this video series has improved your perceptions of how personalities interact in a crisis and the risks they must confront and resolve. How important was the concern that U.S. and Russian leaders failed to adequately communicate with each other in 1962? Were U.S. leaders adequately informed of the dangers they confronted? For example, did Kennedy know all about the dangerous of imposing a blockade on Russian ships?
Would a confrontation analogous to the 1962 crisis in 2022 be more or less dangerous than then? Identify some leading factors that would influence how hazardous a U.S.-Russian confrontation would presently be?
