Analyze a current sociologically relevant issue

Assignment:

1. Purpose: To analyze a current sociologically relevant issue, in light of the information covered.

Instructions: Select a news article or news video from within the last two weeks on a story that has sociological relevance. Reviewing the Table of Contents found in the front of your textbook should be helpful in helping you determine if the news item has something to do with sociology.

Think of the issue discussed in the article in terms of how the various sociological approaches (i.e., structural-functional, structural-conflict, symbolic interactionism, and blended) that you learned about this week apply to the issue.

Summary and Analysis: Give a brief description of the issue, summarize the article, and discuss it generally. Explain how one of the three sociological perspectives (chapter 1) described in this week's reading applies to the issue. Explain how one concept from chapter and one concept from chapter applies to the issue.

Mechanics: Assignments must be a minimum of one page, single-spaced, typed, standard 8.5x11 page, 1" margins, Times New Roman or Arial 10-12 point font, and include your name/course/assignment title/date.

Assignments must be uploaded per the assignment link and will only be accepted in the following formats: .doc, .docx, .pdf. Any assignment submitted in any other format or posted in the "comments" may earn a score of zero.
