Assignment:
Conduct some research on a topic that interests you related to Russia. This could be about music, fashion, culture, business, engineering, whatever. You could search for opinions in the debate over Russia's influence in the 2016 US presidential election, or you could conduct a deeper analysis of Russia's conflicts with Ukraine, Crimea or Chechnya.
Once you've learned the basics about a topic related to Russia, pick one of the concepts from the first five chapters (Identity, Population, Migration, Politics, Economy and Development) and create a 3-5 item bulleted list that summarizes any connections to the media event or issue you chose about Russia.
For example, in a search for news about Russia's rapid decline in life expectancy and fertility, what are some of the common imagined geographies used?
How might this relate to Identity, Politics, Economics, Development, Population and/or Migration? What is happening? What are the concerns? Where? All of Russia, or specific parts?
