Assessment 1: Develop a human resources strategy

Assessment description

Using the case study provided complete a written report describing the HR strategy approach, two options for the delivery of HR services, a strategy for the delivery of one of the options and a written report detailing the analysis and decision making process involved in your recommendations.

Procedure

Review the case study below for JKL Industries, and:

1. Determine human resources requirements.

Analyse the strategic and operational plans to determine human resources requirements and develop options for the delivery of human resources services.

a. Determine appropriate consultation mechanisms.

b. How would you engage key stakeholders?

c. Develop a HR strategy approach including requirements for:

i. recruitment

ii. performance management

iii. remuneration and benefits

iv. education and training.

Document in a written report.

2. Develop at least two options for the delivery of HR services and select two alternative models for the delivery of HR services.

For each option document:

a. what the advantages of the model are

b. what the risks to the organisation are

c. what the costs to the organisation are

d. how the models support the organisational goals

e. how you would ensure the options comply with:

i. award and enterprise agreements

ii. relevant industrial relations instruments

iii. relevant industry codes of practice

iv. legislation such as OHS, EEO, industrial relations and anti discrimination.

Document as a presentation to management using either a written report, PowerPoint presentation or a combination of methods.

3. Develop strategies for the delivery of HR services for one of the options above.

a. Document the hiring strategies.

b. Document motivation, maintenance and retention strategies.

c. Document separation strategies.

Document in a written report.

4. Develop an action plan. Select one of the services from the HR strategy and document the action plan for implementation.

The action plan should include:

a. the strategic goal

b. all of the actions required to achieve that goal including:

i. identifying third party service providers

ii. development of service agreements

iii. training needs

iv. communications

v. review processes

vi. roles and responsibilities (internal and external).

c. how you will communicate and gain agreement.

Document as a written report including a completed action plan.

Assessment 2: Evaluate HR Service delivery

To complete this assessment you must first complete Assessment 1: Case Study.

In this assessment you will;

• evaluate the service delivery feedback from the Case Study provided in Appendix A.

• develop a plan for collecting feedback from clients.

Part A

In this task you need to develop;

• a plan for collecting feedback from clients, and

• a plan for collecting ongoing client feedback for a review of the HR services strategy you developed in Assessment 1.

? Submit the plan and tools / surveys / questionnaires to your trainer for assessment.

Part B:

Read the case study in Appendix A.

• Make recommendations for changes to HR service delivery and seek approval for their implementation.

• Conduct a training needs analysis to identify gaps in knowledge across the organization.

• Develop and example system or procedure that will assist in monitoring the quality of HR service delivery.

• Complete a written submission to management outlining your plans to vary the original HR strategy taking this feedback into consideration.

Your goal is to improve the HR Service Delivery.
