PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Your research project is designed to integrate the various aspects of Forensic Science with the scientific principles developed through this, and other, Criminal Justice courses. You will design a PowerPoint presentation for the field assigned to you, completing a historical research project on a specialty assigned below, as well as the analysis of a case, presented under Week 8 material.

CASE REPORT REQUIREMENTS

There are two components to the final 'case report'. The first is a background on history, research, and innovations. The second is a complete case analysis.

PART 1: HISTORY, RESEARCH, AND INNOVATIONS OF FORENSIC BIOLOGY (2-3 PAGES)

  • An overview of the disciplines importance in forensics biology and a brief history on its evolution;
  • Information on any important individuals to the discipline, both past and current;
  • At least one article of relevant research, from a scientific journal that deals with the discipline. Include a full explanation of the research and areas for future research;
  • Demonstrate the importance of this field within one case in the last century (national or local);
  • Include background information on the case, the evidence presented that is relevant to your specialty, and any mishandling;
  • A Works Cited page should also be included for your sources. Sources may be obtained from print or online, and do not need to meet a minimum or maximum requirement.

PART 2: CASE ANALYSIS (3-5 PAGES)

Read through the case summary provided to understand the key details of the case and provide a summary;

Analyze the case reports assigned for your disciplines. For your discipline, provide a detailed analysis of your MOCK CASE report results.
