An engineering mistake has resulted in the need to connect an already constructed tunnel and bridge with a vertical curve. The profile of the bridge and tunnel is given in the figure below. Devise a vertical alignment to connect the tunnel and bridge by determining the highest common design speed for the sag and crest (equal tangent) vertical curves needed. Assume that the final grade of the sag curve equals the initial grade of the crest curve. Compute stationing of PVC, PVI, and PVT curve points.
