An analytical essay takes a subject and breaks it down into

You'll find two files attached, the assignment requirements and the previous assignment (assignment 3, which was a bibliography about the same topic ). The main idea is to pick 5 sources that discuss an aspect of slavery and talk about it in depth using one of the suggested techniques (definitions, exemplification, cause and effect, process, comparison and contrast, classification and division, or any combination of these). You can use the same sources that I used for the previous assignment or update them whenever needed as long as they're academic, because I need to get them approved first.

"An analytical essay takes a subject and breaks it down into its parts, seeing how each part works together to create the whole.

You may analyze by using definitions, exemplification, cause and effect, process, comparison and contrast, classification and division, and any combination of these.

For example, an essay of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder might define the term, examine its cause and its effect, describe the process by which it is diagnosed and/or treated, divide it into forms or the disorder caused by combat and by other traumas, and/or compare it to other forms of stress-caused disorders.

For this essay, you must choose writing techniques from those listed above and research a topic, using at least five sources for your final essay.

After taking notes from your research sources and choosing suitable quotations that you can use to support your points, decide how you will organize this information and make an outline.

Begin with an introductory paragraph that ends with your developed thesis statement.

Then, write unified paragraphs, each beginning with an effective topic sentence and which are developed with facts, illustrations, and quotations.

APA format must be used in giving citations for your information and quotations and in listing the references at the end of your paper.
