Allot of nonverbal communication is viewed differently to

The nonverbal communication codes that my aloof, cold and standoffish friend is presenting to others are: lack of eye contact, facial expressions and attitude. My friend may be warm and easy to get along with once you get to know him, but from the perception of others he has difficulty making this believable. To change this negative perspective my friend needs to come off as friendlier. He can do this by smiling more and remembering proper posture when he is in a public setting. His attitude also can be changed in a pleasant and out-going way by greeting people in a friendly way, such as good morning or hello and showing eye contact.

It is hard for anyone to show a positive perception all of the time and allot of nonverbal communication is viewed differently to others who might see the same gestures. Where I work I learned that first impressions do seem to be those that people remember the most. I was considered standoffish because I did not make eye contact and rarely smiled. It is hard to change that first impression, but it can be done.
