While last week we spent researching the topic of majors/careers, this week we turn out focus to HOW we will present the research to a general audience.
After you check out the Powerpoint's: Introduction to Visual Rhetoric and Introduction to Document Design (found in Course Content), you will write Journal 5 which asks you to answer the question, What is a feature article?
Examples of feature articles can be found in Course Content. Read several of them to deduce what a feature article is. Use one of the articles to answer these questions so that you can be specific with your answers. By focusing on the purpose, audience, context, and formal elements (design, visual rhetoric) you will be able to deduce the type of article you will be writing for the third major assignment (A3):
- What sorts of information does a feature article contain?
- What audience does it appeal to?
- Where was it published, etc?
- How does the publication inform how the article is written?
- How does the author use visual rhetoric? Document design elements?
