When we think about archives, we can think about who makes the archive (collects and organizes the items in the archive, determines what is allowed to be included or not) and who the archive's intended audience is (people who will pay money to look at its contents). Lipton points out that we also need to consider the people who view something, but for whom that particular production has not been engineered.
After reading the two excerpts, write a one-page reflection about your favorite TV channel (or streaming platform). Think about it as an archive. What is in this archive? Who is it curated for? Who curates it? Why is it something you enjoy viewing? If you don't have a favorite TV channel or streaming platform, think of another form of organized media that you would consider an archive/
