Assignment Task:
The most important point raised in Pasquale's article is that you cannot treat the internet as an economic matter as it is not an economic matter but more of a sociological one. This is because the internet has created a new society of its own, one separate from what you and I would call the 'real world'. Just like in any society Pasquale believes that a system of formal and informal norms will govern and create a better internet. Accountability is key in creating Pasquale's new better internet. Ideally, this accountability would not only be upheld by the community on the internet but also by a specialized governing bureaucracy within each country's government allowing for countries to have safe channels to have qualified transparency with the web companies/entities that function within its borders.
I believe this issue can strongly relate to Rawl's veil of ignorance in that individuals on the internet should be treated with the knowledge that one is ignorant to the unique characteristics of the other individuals interacting on the web. Markets in Economies tend to run off of the concept that majority rule dictates the outcome; supply and demand. This is the opposite of both Rawl's and Pasquale's messages. Although Pasquale does not directly state that he agrees with Rawl's belief that institutions should operate to give the most advantage to those with the least opportunity he does advocate for fairness and regulation of the web market, specifically with transparency in their practices.
