Addresses are necessary for virtually everything we do on the Internet. In TCP/IP the IP is a mechanism for providing addresses for computers on the Internet. Internet addresses contains two forms:

  • Person understandable that expressed as words
  • Machine understandable that re -expressed as numbers

Internet addresses are divided in five distinct types of classes. The classes were designated A to E. class A address space lets a small number of networks however a large number of machines, whereas class C let for a large number of networks however a relatively small number of machines per network.
