Acute Mitral Regurgitation : Acute mitral regurgitation is an indication for early surgery. If patient is haemodynamically unstable, pre-operative intra aortic balloon pump insertion will help. In mild cases, vaso dilators and treatment of failure are instituted to get the patient to a chronic compensated phase for further assessment and-surgery if required.
