act defined a traffic indicationhowever in evans

Act defined a traffic indication:

However in EVANS v CROSS, Evans was charged by ignoring namely, a traffic sign, a white line painted in the middle of a road, whether overtaking on a bend through out the road, contrary to Section 49 of the U.K. Road Traffic Act, 1930.  So hence section 48(10) of the Act defined a traffic indication as "all signals, warning signposts, direction posts, signs or other devices". Whereas it was held that the words like "or other devices" is should be construed 'ejusdem generis' the preceding words and, hence the white painted line at the road was not a traffic sign.  Well Evans had consequently not committed an offence under the section.
