According to social psychologist Eliot Aronson, human beings are by nature "social animals." Evolution influenced our early ancestors to belong to groups to maximize protection from predators and to share food, shelter, and other life necessities. However, recent studies of human habitation patterns suggest that we are increasingly choosing to live alone.
In your opinion, based on the readings and your own experiences, why are people seemingly more willing to live alone? What role might modern technology (e.g., Internet, Facebook) play in this "counter-evolutionary" trend? Support your discussion with specific examples.
