Absorption of proteins in infants

In  infants, permeability of  the  intestine appears to be greater than  in  later  life, and some  large  protein molecules such as antibodies  in  the mother's milk and protein allergens pass by  diffusion through the wall. Pinocytosis appears to account for the absorption of these large molecules in  children and  adults.
