A five story office building is to be built on a site underlain by moderately uniform soils. Bedrocks are at a depth in excess of 200 m. The building will be 50m wide and 85m long and the foundation will be founded at a depth of 1m below ground surface. In addition the water table is at a depth of 3 meters. Above the water table the soil mass unit weight is 16 kN/m^2. Below the water table the saturated unit weight is 19.5kN/m^2. The maximum column load is 330,000 lbs. Recommend the number and depth of borings. (Make sure you convert units)
