A steel tank with 25 m high vertical walls and a flat

1.When filled to capacity, avertical cylindrical un-pressurized storage tank contains water toa height of 14.5m above its base. Given that the height of the tank is 15m, the diameter 9m and wall thickness 18mm, determine the maximum normal stress. (Density of water = 1000kg/m3.)

2.A steel tank with 2.5 m high vertical walls and a flat triangular floor is filled with three immiscible liquids layered upon each other.  Two of the walls are 1.2 m long and perpendicular to each other.  There is one tonne of water in the tank, a depth of 0.5 meters of one fluid with an RD of 0.84, and another fluid with a specific weight of 12.4 kN/m^3.  Determine the total moment of the resultant hydrostatic thrust created by these fluids about the joint between the longest wall and floor.
