A resistor selected at random from a bin containing 1 k ohm

A resistor selected at random from a bin containing 1 K Ohm 5% tolerance resistors is measured with an ohmmeter.

The ohmmeter is old fashioned pointer type that introduces measurement error and operator error (it is hard to read precisely the numerical value that a pointer lands on).

The measurement error is modeled as a zero mean Gaussian random variable having standard deviation of 5 Ohm. Model the resistance as a uniform random variable over the range [950, 1050] Ohm.

The measured value from the meter is the sum of the resistance and the measurement error.

Develop a mathematical expression for the probability density function of the measured resistance value (it will involve Q functions) and plot it using the MATLAB built in function qfunc.
