A researcher should choose a particular research

Some people involved in business research recommend that a researcher should choose a particular ‘research perspective’ based on the research questions in the study.

Another set of experts feel that a particular research perspective ‘chooses’ the researcher. That implies a belief that a researcher will have rather strong preference for one research perspective, which in turn, will have a strong influence on the types of questions on which the research is focused.

What is your position with regard to these two lines of thinking concerning the interaction between research perspective and research questions?
