A pumped storage power plant is to be designed for a flow

A pumped storage power plant is to be designed for a flow rate of 6,000 cfs per penstock. The penstocks are 20 ft. in diameter, with a relative roughness of 0.008. The elevation difference between the two reservoirs is 340 ft. The head loss has to be less than 2% of the head available from the pump.

a.) Determine the allowable length of the penstock.
