A parallel plate capacitor is composed of two square plates

A parallel plate capacitor is composed of two square plates, 8.5 cm on a side, separated by an air gap of 1.00 mm. The capacitor is initially charged to a 145-V potential difference. The plates are then physically separated by another 0.600 mm in such a way that none of the charge can leak off the plates.

(a) Find the new capacitance.

(b) Find the new energy stored in the capacitor.

(c) Explain the result using conservation of energy
