A manufacturer of exercise equipment for health clubs is interested in comparing usage of equipment (treadmills, bikes, stairs, etc.) for men and women. The manufacturer is interested in determining if women use exercise equipment significantly more than men. Random samples of 250 men and 250 women in downtown Baltimore health clubs were selected and the usage of equipment was determined. The results indicated that women averaged 2 hours per week and men averaged 1.25 hour per week. The standard deviation for the women was 20 minutes and the standard deviation for the men was 35 minutes. Use an alpha of .10. The necessary standard error is 2.55 (min).
