A man was on his deathbed and wanted to settle his estate

A man was on his deathbed, and wanted to settle his estate with a will. His estate amounted to 1000 ducats. Of these, he left 200 to his church. His wife was soon to give birth, and he wished to make specific provisions for his widow and orphan to be. As was the custom in that day, the man hoped that his wife would soon deliver a son. So, he made this disposition: If the child was a girl, then she and her mother would share the money equally. If the child was a boy, he was to have 500 ducats, leaving the widow only 300. Shortly after the man died, his widow gave birth to twins, a boy and a girl.

Honoring the dead man’s will, calculate how many ducats each would receive.
